Three days on Lake Saimaa
Saimaa is the largest lake in Finland, a maze of islands and narrow channels. We arrived by train to Mikkeli and took a local bus to Puumala.
The cabin had a wood-fired sauna and a rowing boat. Mornings were foggy until ten; afternoons were clear and still. A small shop in the village sold smoked vendace and rye bread.
Tip: book the cabin directly with the owner. Most of them answer email within a day.
